Sequence diversity of rulA among natural isolates of Pseudomonas syringae and effect on function of rulAB-mediated UV radiation tolerance
Article Abstract:
Sequence diversity in the rulA allele of Pseudomonas syringae could change the organism's UV tolerance, which in turn would change its competitiveness. Sequencing of 14 rulA alleles from seven pathovars revealed differences of 1% to 12% within pathovar syringae and up to 15% between pathovars.

Construction and analysis of photolyase mutants of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Pseudomonas syringae: contribution of photoreactivation, nucleotide excision repair, and mutagenic DNA repair to cell survival and mutability following exposure to UV-B radiation
Article Abstract:
The photolyase gene phr of Pseudomonas appears to protect the bacterium against UV-B radiation. The Pseudomonas DNA repair determinant rulAB could restore protection in phr mutants.

Phylogenetic analysis of the pPT23A plasmid family of Pseudomonas syringae
Article Abstract:
A comparative analysis of the phylogeny of the pPT23A plasmid family of Pseudomonas syringae (PFP) and that of conserved chromosomal genes from Pseudomonas syringae was carried out to understand the evolution of these plasmids and their host. The results show that the plasmid replication gene (repA), the only gene known to be distributed among all the PFPs, have a phylogeny that was distinct from that of the Pseudomonas syringae hosts of these plasmids and from those of other individual genes of PFPs.
