VDJ recombination: a transposase goes to work
Article Abstract:
Several studies have shown that the VDJ recombinase can function as a transposase and can catalyze the intermolecular transposition of a discrete DNA segment. The findings indicated the possible occurrence of aberrant chromosomal rearrangements due to inappropriate transposition events promoted by the recombinase. Moreover, the argument that the VDJ recombination system may derive from an ancient transposon was confirmed.

Unequal access: regulating V(D)J recombination through chromatin remodeling
Article Abstract:
Regulation of the V(D)J recombinase machinery is brought about by its binding to recombination signal sequences adjacent to V, D, and J coding segments followed by double-strand breaks between the recombination signal sequences and the adjoining coding segment. Data show that broken ends then undergo a configuration involving DNA-repair factors.

Global role for chromatin remodeling enzymes in mitotic gene expression
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that gene expression in eukaryotes is regulated by chromatin remodeling enzyme SWI/SNF and histone acetyl transferase Gcn5p. Results reveal that the mitotic chromatin is in a condensed form and that SWI/SNF and Gcn5p mediate their expression.
