Variation of repetitive DNA sequences in progenies of regenerated plants of Pisum sativum
Article Abstract:
The increase in highly repeated (HR) DNA sequences in plants of Pisum sativum regenerated through in vitro cultures is transmitted and maintained at least in the first generation. Cytophotometry studies show that the regenerated plants R(sub 1) have 6% to 7% more DNA per nucleus which is retained in the next generation R(sub 2). Chromosomes in the metaphase are longer and representation of condensed chromatin is higher in R(sub 2) than in control plants. Thermal denaturation studies reveal that a new HR family occurs in R(sub 1) which is retained in R(sub 2).

Localization of nod-3, a gene conditioning hypernodulation, and identification of a novel translocation in Pisum sativum L. cv. Rondo
Article Abstract:
The mapping of nod-3 gene conditional hypernodulation of Pisum sativum L can help in the understanding of its relationship with other genes and involvement in symbiotic nitrogen fixation. However, new chromosomal rearrangements complicate this mapping and so the location of nod-3 in a novel translocation with its parent, the cultivar Rondo is presented. However, the translocated Rondo produces a semisterile plant, indicating possible problems with nod-3, Rondo hybridizations.
