A hard bargain

The Dawson recommendation supported competition law that streamlined the process to collectively bargain and boycott, benefiting the small businesses. However, eight months later the legislation was not enacted that caused a debate between the small businesses and the competition lawyers and resulted in the big businesses lobbying Canberra against important changes in this area, especially the issue of collective boycotts.

Mad-cow misery
Article Abstract:
Many countries banned US beef imports when the US beef industry announced its first suspected case of mad-cow disease, which was a boon for Australian farmers, but any bad news of mad-cow disease hurts the beef industry world-wide as it has the potential to limit the consumption of beef. The industry shares are still bullish, despite drought affecting parts of the land and US80 cents exchange rate.
