A market radical looks ahead
Article Abstract:
Maurice Newman feels that the financial services industry is in for huge changes, especially on the technological side. Sixty online firms with a total of three million customer accounts represent 4% of the U.S. total, but Newman predicts that it will be 15% by 2002. Rising costs related to technology and regulatory compliance are contributing to huge financial services mergers. The alliance of competing stock markets in Europe is also a sign of future trends.
