A paradox of synergy: Contagion and capacity effects in mergers and acquisitions
Article Abstract:
The potential outcomes of integrating merged business to realize synergies can often be adversely affected by the contagion effect and the capacity effect. The importance of these two effects is discussed with particular emphasis on when they will occur more pronouncedly.
