A theoretical assessment of the user-satisfaction construct in information systems research
Article Abstract:
The user-satisfaction construct has been a central focus of behavioral research in Information systems (IS), but no comprehensive theoretical assessment of the construct has been conducted. Although the construct has been used to evaluate system effectiveness, research has not investigated the relationship between users' behavior and system effectiveness. A comprehensive survey of IS behavioral research reveals that IS-users attitudes are considerably more complex than assumed in the literature of user-satisfaction research. Most IS research focused on the influences of attitudes on behavior, which, while compatible with situations characterized by voluntary use, does not adequately elucidate those situations in which technology use is mandated by the organization.

Understanding user evaluations of information systems
Article Abstract:
The concept of task-technology fit (TTF) is proposed as a basis for user evaluations (UE) of information systems (IS). The following hypotheses are tested: that UE of TTF are affected by the characteristics of information systems/services, by the characteristics of the tasks, by individual skills and abilities, and by the interaction between task and technology. The results of the analysis provide general empirical support for these propositions. It is shown that UE of TTF are directly affected by characteristics of the task, the system and the individual. The findings support the assertions that the value of a technology hinges on the tasks of the user and that users can effectively assess the TTF of their technologies.

The intellectual development of management information systems, 1972-1982: a co-citation analysis
Article Abstract:
Research is presented on the use of management information systems (MISs). The research offers evidence on the intellectual development of concepts developed by the authors and published via a co-citation analysis for MIS. The research reveals all subfields that comprise MIS research.
