Outsourcing and the spin-off arrangement: lessons from a utility company

Spinning off non-core functions into a new business is often used as an alternative to outsourcing functions. The spinoff arrangement of a utility company is analyzed from its inception to its eventual disposal and the lessons learned are provided.
