CNN to set up office to thwart errors
Article Abstract:
The Cable News Network (CNN) is forming a watchdog division in order to prevent the reoccurence of its public apology and retraction over a nerve-gas story in June 1998. The story turned out to be the channel's worst blunder in its history. The division, the Journalistic Standards and Practices office, will operate similarly to a newspaper ombudsman. It will concentrate on investigative pieces at CNN.
