Healthy worldwide business in the 1990s has allowed the stocks of the advertising industry to achieve impressive levels, and this is expected to continue in the year 2000. The use of the Internet and the World Wide Web, new and alternative markets, and consolidation are three of the more important trends in the industry. Many of these stocks are recommended to investors for the year 2000 as having good price potential.

Profits for advertising agencies were lower in the 1st qtr of 2001, due mainly to smaller client fees. Many companies are spending less on advertising than in the past, and this has hurt the industry. There are several good issues for the future in this sector, however.
