Fujimori easily wins reelection

Fujimori was reelected with about 64% of the votes, and Javier Perez de Cuellar finished a distant second place in the national election held Apr 9, 1995. The elections were determined to be free of fraud by independent observers, and the stock exchange rose with news of the election results.

Algeria: President Zeroual wins reelection
Article Abstract:
Algerians reelected Lamine Zeroual as president with 61.3% of the vote in elections held Nov 16, 1995. He defeated Sheik Mahfoud Nahnah of the Hamas Islamic party. Opponents to Zeroual led by the Islamic Salvation Front threatened to kill voters and claimed the election figures were inflated.

Argentina's Menem easily wins reelection
Article Abstract:
Pres Menem won the Argentine elections on May 14, 1995. As of May 15, 1995, he had 49.7% of the votes, while his challenger, Jose Octavio Bordon, got only 29.5% of the votes. Menem's Peronist party also won a majority in Congress and 12 out of 23 provincial government elections.
