Amazon woman, by her own book
Article Abstract:
With high-value shares, a gain in sales, but increasing net losses, Amazon.com Inc. continues its short-term profit/long-term value plan by closing the gap between the need for capital to build the business and rising stock prices. Its sales growth is $300, but its net loss in 1998 was $75 million. CFO Joy Covey has supervised bond offerings to raise capital. In January 1999, she offered a convertible bond valued at $500; that same day it rose to $1.25 billion.
