An organization-level analysis of voluntary and involuntary turnover
Article Abstract:
Although there are many individual-level models of turnover, little research has examined the effects of human resource management practices on quit rates and discharge rates at the organizational level. This study used organization-level data from 227 organizations in the trucking industry to explore this issue. Results show that human resource management practices predict quit rates and discharges rates but that the determinants of each are quite different. Implications are derived and directions for future research suggested. (Reprinted by permission of the publisher.)

Turnover, social capital losses, and performance
Article Abstract:
A theory of turnover, social capital losses, and performance was developed and tested, the results of which show that the loss of value contained in communication networks can explain significant and practical amounts of variation in organizational performance. The results also demonstrate the effects of social capital losses through turnover to be more pronounced when overall turnover is low.
