Andreessen steps down from AOL
Article Abstract:
America Online's chief technology officer, Marc Andreessen, has stepped down after seven months in the position, to be replaced by William J. Raduchel, chief strategist for Sun Microsystems. Mr. Andreessen says that he would rather work with and invest in start-up companies. He has set up a part-time position at AOL that will allow him to do just that. Mr. Raduchel is seen by some as having a background more congruent with the corporate culture of AOL. He was one of the four top executives at Sun, and over the past ten years, has served as Sun's chief financial officer and its chief information officer. When AOL chairman Steve Case heard that Mr. Raduchel was considering leaving Sun, he called to offer him the post at AOL.
