Leland W. Modjeski and the Secret Service agent who tackled him both underwent surgery for gunshot wounds to the left arm after Modjeski scaled a fence and ran toward the White House on May 23, 1995. Pennsylvania Avenue was closed May 20, 1995, to through traffic because of security concerns.

NATO chief Claes quits amid bribe scandal
Article Abstract:
A bribery scandal in Belgium which implicated North Atlantic Treaty Organization Secretary-General Willy Claes has forced him to resign the post. It was the second time that Claes was alleged to be involved in the scandal. He resigned a day after his immunity from prosecution was lifted.
