Umbria
Article Abstract:
Tuscany is overbooked and overcrowded, but Umbria, with its rare sights and exquisite foods, makes for a truly worthwhile Italian vacation. Umbria has mountain cidatels and Etruscan and Middle Age architecture. The towns of Assisi, Gubbio, and Orvieto are on a train line, and visitors there can see basilicas, fortresses, cathedrals. Truffles and a local stew called tegamaccio can be found in Norcia, a town lined with food shops.

Cairns' new market drops in its tracks
Article Abstract:
The Asian tourist market is quite volatile. Cairns, Australia, had its Korean tourism market growing at a rate of 70% per year and increased its flights from the area. A major decrease in tourism started in Dec 1997 which is expected to decrease Cairns' hoteliers' income by $5 billion in 1998. North American and European tourism is more predictable but the length of the trip requires more careful planning for these tourists.
