Lack of demand in the aftermarket sector, increased automobile leasing, and the increased complexity of automobiles have made internal growth slow for the replacement auto parts industry in the 1990s. The industry has also consolidated and substantial acquisitions have been made by a number of companies in 1998 and 1999. Several of these stocks have good appreciation potential, but investors need to be cautious with the industry as a whole.

The increased complexity of automobiles and decreased demand for these products have been major factors, also. These stocks are not timely and investors should seek opportunities elsewhere.
