Bank (Canadian) industry
Article Abstract:
Low inflation and interest rates in Canada are helping the Canadian economy grow in the late 1990s, and has helped keep the lending activity high for Canadian banks. However, competition and overcapacity will force these banks to provide services other than deposits and loans in the future, and merger activity is expected to increase as well. Investors may find some of these stocks attractive, even though most are unappealing through 2001-2003.
