Bank industry
Article Abstract:
The banking industry is reporting good earnings in 1995, and this will continue in 1996 in spite of low revenue growth. Restructuring, lower interest rates, and reduced federal deposit insurance premiums will keep banks expenses low. Increased foreign exchange and bond income will help several banks retain high earnings. High dividends and possible mergers make bank stocks attractive, but investors must be selective.

Article Abstract:
The US banking industry will continue to enjoy moderate earnings growth in 1995, fueled by strong loan demand and improvements in asset quality. The economic crisis in Mexico is not expected to have any significant long-term impact on the industry. Growing competition in the financial services market has led many banks to concentrate their efforts on offering specialized services.
