Article Abstract:
The Corporations Act imposes five years of jail for the dishonest directors of failing companies, moreover, those who arrange for the companies to repay claimed debts to themselves or their families in an attempt to get in ahead of other creditors are being charged with criminal offences. Experts feel that it is only in a minority of instances that directors of failed companies try to obtain money from the company the day before it collapses.
