Brave little books conquer Italy

The first 'mille lire' book, a collection of Epicurus's aphorisms by Stampa Alternativa in 1992, sold a million copies. It awoke Italy's slumbering book industry, boosting sales of all books, mostly due to its downward push on prices. Mille lire editions got Italians buying books and reading again.
