Building materials industry
Article Abstract:
The overall forecast for the buildings material industry in 1997 is relatively strong, although new housing starts are down slightly when compared to prior fiscal years and quarters. Lumber sales associated with repair and remodeling construction are improving steadily, and the commercial and industrial segments of the market are likewise expected to benefit from the moderate growth. The recent work of many remodeling companies to update their inventories and manufacturing processes will make them stronger should recessionary trends emerge.
