Momenta International, leader in field of note-pad computing, is near closing
Article Abstract:
Momenta International Corp lays off most of its remaining employees and company executives say that unless there is a significant infusion of capital, the notebook computer company will either liquidate its assets or file for bankruptcy protection. The company attracted attention in Oct 1991 when it introduced a microcomputer that recognized handwriting, and launched itself as the leader of pen-based input technology. The Momenta pen computers were not a commercial success and were criticized for being too heavy and expensive. Additionally, the company spent large sums on advertising and marketing; internal problems resulted in investors hesitating to provide additional capital.
