Cadbury's little winner turns two
Article Abstract:
Cadbury Confectionery's marketing of "Yowies," small, foil-wrapped critters with a hollow inside containing a small egg revealing an animal, has caused sales to skyrocket in Australia and abroad. Since the Yowies' inception in 1997, more than 65.5 million Yowies have been sold for more than $100 million. Cadbury allocated more than $2.2 million for the British advertising campaign, which resulted in 95,000 units being sold in five days. Yowie has 40.2% of the children's confectionery market. Cadbury has developed educational product extensions: Yowie books, CD-ROMs, a magazine, information kits for schools, and a movie.
