Cancer stocks grow
Article Abstract:
In 2003 Australia's cancer-research companies had a good year buoyed by a combination of favorable news from the US about new drugs with encouraging results being developed and so share prices almost doubled in some small companies linked to cancer research. However, cancer research is a risky business but if two or three Australian companies are successful, it until is better than normal odds.

Medicare cuts an artery

The federal funding on two important areas of health care has been increasing rapidly. While the cost of Medicare rose by 12.8% in the September quarter, the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme involving subsidizing drugs increased by 12.6% in the same quarter. The evaluation of the Medicare safety net scheme is also discussed.
