Paper & forest products industry
Article Abstract:
Demand for forest and paper products due to the good US economy have made it possible for most companies in the paper and forest products industry to achieve good earnings in the year 2000. Merger activity, slow capacity growth, and higher price trends are also having a beneficial effect on the industry, as well. These stocks are well placed to beat or mirror the market in the year 2000, and several have growth potential for the next three to five years.

Article Abstract:
The strong US economy in the year 2000 has increased demand for paper and forest products and improved the market conditions for the industry. Most of these issues are not ranked favorably for investors.

Most of the paper industry stocks tracked by Value Line are expected underperform or match the performance of the general market in the Oct 1999-Oct 2000 period.
