Capabilities, contractual hazards, and governance: Integrating resource-based and transaction cost perspective
Article Abstract:
A study addresses independent and joint effects of contractual hazards and technological capabilities on governance, arguing that strong technological capabilities help to improve a firm's ability to govern transactions that makes outsourcing feasible in spite of contractual hazards. The results of the examination on a random sample of 405 service contracts showed that contractual hazards encouraged internalizing transactions.

High-involvement management and workforce reduction: Competitive advantage or disadvantage?
Article Abstract:
The moderating effects that layoffs have on the relationship between high-involvement work practices and work place productivity and the manner in which continued investments in these work practices throughout layoff periods maintain workforce productivity are discussed. Results reveal a negative relationship between high-involvement work practices and productivity in work places with higher layoff rates.

Stewards, agents, and the founder discount: Executive compensation in new ventures
Article Abstract:
The interplay between agency and stewardship theories, wherein the two are complementary, are examined in the context of new ventures. Results reveal Significant differences were seen between founder-stewards and nonfounder agents that diminished with the growth of the company, and significant effects of equity ownership and outside rounds of financing.
