Are Friendly Acquisitions Too Bad for Shareholders and Managers? Long-Term Value Creation and Top Management Turnover in Hostile and Friendly Acquirers
Article Abstract:
Four types of acquirers are examined: hostile bidder, friendly bidder, and hostile bidder and white knight facing either another hostile bidder or white knight. Findings show that more value is destroyed with friendly acquirers possessing high stock-market ratings than with hostile acquirers with similar stock-market ratings.
