Article Abstract:
The need for both natural resource protection and socioeconomic development is one of the major challenges faced by Central America. This can be illustrated by the case of the Cerra Cahui protected rain forest in Guatemala. The Sustainable Development Project was established to promote ecological tourism. Tourism earnings will then be used to encourage the protection of forest resources. However, it is shown that a number of factors will make the implementation of the program difficult.

Tobacco promotion restrictions: Ironies and unintended consequences
Article Abstract:
The tobacco industry has continued to develop highly visible promotions that induce the youth towards the use of tobacco in spite of governmentEs regulation on the types of promotion available to cigarette manufacturers. Further promotion restrictions and tighter controls on the sale and distribution of tobacco was the alternative means of controlling the health-related consequences of smoking.
