FlexiPlan takes aim at industry's Goliath

FlexiPlan Australia is a trust company founded by Sue Thomas in 1992. Its holdings are expected to reach $1 billion in 1998. MLC/Lend Lease, an insurance and finance company, controls 67% of the trust; Thomas still still holds 20%. FlexiPlan now employs 65 people and its headquarters are in Perth, which Thomas feels may cost less than many other Australian cities.

Westpac's gamble
