Channell Commercial expects to post net flat with year earlier

Channell Commercial Corp. is expecting to post approximately $2.5 million in net income for the second-quarter of 1998. The net income for the quarter is approximately the same as it was during the same period in 1997. The company will post per-share earnings of 23 cents to 25 cents. Channell's quarterly revenues increased by at least 34% to $21 million to $23 million. During the same period in 1997, the company posted $15.7 million in revenues.

Gannett's earnings increase 16%, helped by classified-ad sales

Gannett Co. announced that its net income for the third-quarter of 1998 increased 16%. The company's figures were helped by strong classified advertising at its newspapers. Gannett's net income improved to $176.5 million for the period ending in September 27, 1998. This was compared to $152.2 million during the same period in 1997. The company's revenue improved 7% to $1.23 billion during the quarter.
