China's premium-beer market goes flat

The Chinese economy is in danger, and consumers are reacting by buying the cheaper local beers rather than premium imports such as Foster's and Lion Nathan. The rest of Asia reflects similar trends. Another factor in the brewing industry's troubles is the stiff competition among beers in Asia. Many companies have been forced to lower their costs and prices to counter the trend of decreasing sales.
