'Columbia' loses tethered satellite
Article Abstract:
The Columbia space shuttle lost an Italian satellite that cost more than $400 million to develop. The satellite was to be used to demonstrate the concept of tethered space flight, but the cable broke. It is expected to fall into the earth's atmosphere and be destroyed within a month.

Ciller government loses confidence vote
Article Abstract:
Ciller's coalition government was given a vote of no confidence by the Turkish Parliament on Oct 15, 1995. The vote was 421 to 191 against the coalition of the True Path Party and the Nationalist Action Party. New elections are tentatively scheduled for Dec 24, 1995.

Hoyte loses election to ex-Marxist
Article Abstract:
Cheddi Jagan won the presidency in the general election in Guyana on Oct 5, 1992, defeating incumbent Pres Hoyte. Foreign observers saw the election as a sign of support for democratic reforms.
