Controllling a computer by the power of thought. Disabled could be liberated by brain-wave technology; good concentraton required
Article Abstract:
The Joint Research Center of the European Commission computer scientist Jose del R. Millan has developed the software for the $1.5 million project, Adaptive Brain Interface, which allows for thought recognition. Disabled people, especially can send electrical brain signals to an electroencephologram connected toa computer where the program "maps" the brain patterns. The program deconstructs the mental tasks rather than thoughts via signals. The user, wearing a plastic cap over gel, and with the ability of focused concentration, can select letters of the alphabet, or any forms through the special software.

EU committee considers overhauling taxes
Article Abstract:

Can Daimler's tiny "Swatchmobile" sweep Europe?
Article Abstract:
The Daimler-Benz AG and Societe Suisse de Microelectronique et d'Horlogerie SA joint venture Micro Compact Car (MCC) introduces its ultralight two-seater Smart car on Oct 2 1998. The subcompact "Swatchmobile" has plastic doors, hood, and trunk and gets about 59 mpg, helping Daimler reach the 25% reduction in CO2 emissions targetted by European automakers for 2008. MCC joint venture partners include 13 suppliers, such as Magna International Inc, Dynamit Nobel, and Andersen Consulting. This means the Smart car's Hambach, France factory can build 900 cars daily with scarcely an parts inventory.
