Coppola awarded $80 million for unmade Pinocchio movie
Article Abstract:
Francis Ford Coppola and a business partner were awarded $60 million by a Los Angeles County Superior Court jury in a claim against Warner Brothers movie studio. Mr. Coppola also was awarded $20 million by the same jury last week. The award for punitive damages stems from a claim that Warner, a unit of Time Warner, had blocked Mr. Coppola's production of a movie based on the story of Pinocchio. Warner Brothers said that it will aile an appeal to overturn the verdict or reduce the damages award.

Shaman says it is exiting drug business
Article Abstract:
South San Francisco-based Shaman Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced that it will stop making drugs and instead will enter the herbal diet supplement business. Feeling ambushed by the FDA requirements to prolong and expand on clinical trials for its diarrhea drug for AIDS patients, the diet supplement area is much less regulated. The announcement means that 65% or 60 people will lose their jobs.
