Cracked port gives rail link a sinking feeling
Article Abstract:
A 490-meter-long crack is threatening the new port at Darwin, Australia. Possibly caused by the instability of a mud layer beneath the port, the crack has caused the postponement of the completion date from January 1998 to October 1998. While some politicians claim that the project itself is a mistake, others profess confidence in it and in the triviality of the crack.
