Dancing in the Aisles
Article Abstract:
Actmedia does in-store advertising in supermarkets. The company has grown rapidly since it first went public. The company's advertising consists of hanging plastic-framed advertisements on the fronts of shopping carts in supermarkets. The ads themselves typically recall current television campaigns and marketing slogans. Research done by Actmedia has shown that sixty-five percent of all brand selection decisions are made in the supermarket and that Actmedia's advertising program increased client's sales by eight percent. After a slow start, Actmedia is now making a profit. Revenues for 1983 were $14.7 million, up from $8.5 million in 1982. Their upswing appears to be continuing for 1984. The problem with Actmedia lies in its ability to grow, since it is established in most large markets.

Rocky Mountain High
Article Abstract:
Oil companies have been finding oil in the Rocky Mountains since the 1970s. The area called the Overthrust Belt is rich in oil and gas deposits. The richest area of the Belt has been worked for several years, but computer processing of seismic data indicates that there are many areas of rich oil and gas deposits still to be found. Oil and gas companies of all sizes continue to make production gains in the area. The area's wealth of assets is expected to gain importance as surpluses of gas and oil are depleted.
