Decision style, stress and managing change
Article Abstract:
The style of decision-making within a company will influence its long-term prosperity. Individual decision-making follows one of two basic patterns. Some individuals prefer to consider a few main points then reach a quick conclusion. Others prefer to gather more information before taking a decision. A classification of decision-making styles based on these two broad dimensions reveals five styles, including flexible and hierarchic styles. The amount of stress experienced by an individual will influence their decision-making style, and the quality of their decisions. Change affects stress levels.

Keeping it all in the family
Article Abstract:
Family-held businesses can be adversely affected by marriage breaks when the in-law concerned happens to be a part of the company and could even result in the decline of the firm. This can be avoided by anticipating problems long before they occur. Techniques for proper problem management include the establishment of prenuptial agreements, a stock transfer agreement and parent-established irrevocable trusts.
