Defense-industry consolidation may not be over yet
Article Abstract:
The consolidation of the U.S. defense industry may not be over. The government's objections to Lockheed's proposed acquisition of Northrop suggests the end of acquistion activities by the industry's top three companies Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon. Second and third tier defense companies may team up in order to deal more effectively as suppliers to the top three companies. The government isn't closing the door to further acquisitions by smaller companies. Several European companies have expressed interest in acquiring U.S. defense related operations.
