Designing distribution systems to support vendor strategies in supply chain management
Article Abstract:
A multidisciplinary framework, which takes into account the interactions among a company's distribution system, market share and distribution expenses in developing profit optimizing distribution networks, is presented. The framework uses two decision support strategies: binary logit models for computing market share using various demand-affecting factors such as product price and distribution service, and a mixed-integer programming model for obtaining optimal distribution network designs.

Branch-and-price methods for prescribing profitable upgrades of high-technology products with stochastic demands
Article Abstract:
A model that can be used as a decision support tool to help manufacturers make profitable decisions in upgrading the features of a family of high-technology products over its life cycle is developed. A branch-and-price (B&P) approach is devised to deal with the sequential stochastic formulation, exploiting the block diagonal structure of the matrix of technological coefficients.
