The Australian Government and Immigration Minister, Philip Ruddock, are covering up the poor performance of Australasian Correctional Management (ACM) that managed six immigration detention centers from 1998 - 2002. The low-key approach by the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) to holding ACM publicly accountable for problems at the detention centers in 2003 raises questions about how effectively it supervised the company.
