Developing efffective management skills
Article Abstract:
The key to effective management is the ability to motivate people. A good manager leads by motivating his people to work toward the achievement of the objectives set by management. To accomplish this a manager should understand the needs of employees. An effective manager will recognize that money alone may not be sufficient to fully motivate employees. More often than not other factors come into play such as opportunities for achievement, job satisfaction and recognition. Thus, an effective manager will seek ways to motivate employees so that they are given the opportunity to realize their personal objectives, while working to attain a group's set objectives. Other steps that a manager can take to ensure effective management would be to continually develop such management skills as communication ability, stress management and efficient time management.

The route to savings
Article Abstract:
The 1991 economic recession has made companies analyze their corporate travel budgets in order to affect savings. Companies typically are facing increased competition and a shifting focus toward international markets and thus cannot afford to cut back on travel, but can reduce travel expenses. Companies can reduce travel expenses by negotiating deals with airlines and hotels for favorable rates. Companies reducing their travel expenses through arrangements for air travel and accommodations more economical than their employees previously enjoyed need to communicate to employees the reasons for the downgrading of travel amenities. In addition, companies must implement both a control system and a monitoring policy in order to make their travel program a success.
