'Don't knock the firm you're leaving.' (job-seeking etiquette and behavior) (Managing Your Career) (Column)
Article Abstract:
Persons out on a job hunt would do well to remember that proper job-seeker etiquette and behavior could spell the difference between getting and losing the position applied for. A good thing for job applicants to remember is that whatever regard is given by applicants to current employers and their equipment is generally regarded as reflective of what these applicants' attitudes and behavior will be in their new positions. Applicants should refrain from expressing any negative comments regarding their current employers. Other suggestions for job seekers include the use of interview attire suitable to the company being applied for, the display of courtesy and friendliness to everyone during the interview, coming to the interview with ample information about the company, and exerting restraint in asking questions about salaries and benefits during the initial interview stages.

'What do you advise an entrepreneur returing to the corporate world?' (Managing Your Career)
Article Abstract:
Once self-employed job seekers should expect a skeptical and hesitant attitude from their prospective employers regarding their job application. This cautious posture of companies stems from doubts regarding the job seekers' ability to become team players and their commitment to stay with ther prospective companies. These job seekers should capitalize on their exposure to the various aspects of entrepreneurship, rather than be defensive about their experiences as business owners. These entrepreneurs should use their experiences as proof of how team spirit and hard work were important aspects of their business philosophy when preparing their resumes or during job interviews. It would also be extremely useful to have sufficient background information on a prospective company prior to interviews.
