EPA sues, seeks fines against Standard Chlorine
Article Abstract:
Standard Chlorine Inc., a manufacturer of chemical products headquartered in Red Lions, PA, faces a lawsuit filed against the company by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for alleged violation of the Clean Air Act. The lawsuit, which was filed in the US District Court in Wilmington, DE, was spurred by the inability of the firm and the agency to agree on the amount of the fines Standard Chlorine is supposed to pay. The company argues that the EPA's decision to impose a $25,000 fine for every single day of violation is highly unreasonable.

Trash firms fight state 'monopoly.'
Article Abstract:
Trash firms in Delaware have filed a class-action lawsuit against the Delaware Solid Waste Authority in an effort to end the authority's monopoly control over garbage disposal. The lawsuit filed with the US District Court aims to urge the court to impose a statewide regulation that would allow haulers to dump all waste at authority landfills. The suit also hopes to land millions in unspecified damages in compensation for the difference between local dumping rates and lower fees charged in other states for the past three years.
