Qatar Emir Khalifa bin Hamad al-Thani was disposed by his son Defense minister Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani on Jun 27, 1995. The son assumed the new title of premier, and his government was recognized by several nations including the US. Biographical information about the new ruler is given.
