Entergy to sell units as part of overhaul
Article Abstract:
Entergy Corp., an electric company based in New Orleans, has decided to sell its electric utilities in Britain and Australia in order to focus on its core business in the southern United States. Entergy will also sell its home security business and a small telecommunications sideline to coincide with their decision to concentrate solely on the wholesale side of the electric business. These announcements began two months after acting chief executive Mr. Luft took over for Edwin Lupberger.

PG&E net falls on sale of unit, weak gas results
Article Abstract:
PG&E Corp. announced that its earnings for the second-quarter of 1998 fell 9.8%. The company attributed the loss to the sale of its electricity firm in Australia and to the poor performance of its gas business in Texas. PG&E did state that its electricity traders "did well" during the latest market troubles. The company said that its earnings fell from $193 million during the 1997 second-quarter to $174 million during the same period in 1998.

PG&E reviews natural-gas strategy in Texas and may shed some assets

San Francisco, CA-based PG and E Corp. is re-thinking its strategy and may sell some of its recently acquired gas processing companies and pipelines. Falling prices for gas transmission and for liquid natural gas prompted the move. Company chairman and CEO, Robert Glynn Jr. that next year will bring a slightly different set of Texas assets for the company.
