Factors affecting new products forecasting accuracy in new firms
Article Abstract:
Factors conspiring to accurately predict the success of a new firm's first product are studied. The study is based on a mail survey of 113 computer software firms and a pilot group formed to discover forecasting problems faced by the software industry. It concludes that the expertise of the firm's pioneers in accurately predicting the success of the new product is a major determining factor. A product development-customer feedback system snd the stability of the industrial environment increases the chancees of success for both the firm and the product.

Predicting new venture survival: an analysis of "Anatomy of a Start-Up." Cases from Inc. magazine
Article Abstract:
Predictions gleaned from the analysis of data from a venture screening questionnaire were used to evaluate the insights and predictions of experts and reporter regarding business success in an article that appeared in Inc magazine. The model was more effective in predicting success or failure in business compared to predictions made by experts, competitors, investors and customers. Seven variables predictive of business success were identified based on a discriminant analysis of the data from the questionnaire.
