Faster new product development: investigating the effects of technology and characteristics of the project leader and team
Article Abstract:
The speed of product development and technology was examined in relation to the characteristics of project leaders and project team members. With the use of questionnaires, pertinent data were gathered from project leaders and team members of 32 product development projects in 12 UK companies. Results show that more routine development work is accomplished faster than radical development work. In addition, characteristics that are important in selecting a project leader differ from the ideal characteristics of team members.

Changing patterns in industrial R&D management
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the changes facing research and development (R&D) management. One hundred twenty R&D directors from technology-based firms participated in the survey. The results indicated that capabilities such as understanding customer needs, monitoring market developments, building cross-functional teams, commercializing new technologies, accelerating new product development and managing multiple R&D projects have the most significant effect on R&D performance.
