FedEx pilots ready to cut wage demand
Article Abstract:
With December 3 looming as the strike vote deadline, FedEx pilots say they are ready to revise their demands, partly because the company is making arrangements to carry on with business in the event of a strike. The talks have gone a bit south in recent days, and the pilots are sure the company is not bluffing about contracting with other airlines and trucking firms. The pilots are the first organized group to take a contract to this stage of negotiations with this company; so far, they do not have the promised backing of the other 140,000 employees.

FedEx restricts U.S. packages bound for China
Article Abstract:
Federal Express Corp. (FedEx) has issued restrictions on shipments from the US to China. The restrictions are a reflection of the continuing problems in the company's wide-ranging delivery operations in China. During the week of July 12-19, 1998, FedEx began informing customers that it would no longer ship packages worth more than $600 to China from the US. The company also stated that videocassette or compact disk packages for China could experience delays as long as 30 days.
