The Federal Reserve voted to raise two short-term interest rates on Feb 1, 1995. The federal funds rate will go to 6%, and the discount rate will rise to 5.25%. The Fed claims to be doing this to fight inflation, but there are no real economic indications of inflation, and some criticize this move.
